About the Movie

Alienated teen Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord of TV’s 90210, TV’s NIP/TUCK) struggles with the pressures of fitting into high school, pleasing her mother (Traci Lords of BLADE, ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO) and a burning desire to lose her virginity. With a grotesque curiosity for the darker side of life, Pauline is considered a social outcast by everyone around her. Enticed by flesh, she retreats into her own fantasies and hopes to become a great surgeon - that is, if she doesn't go insane first. Also starring John Waters (HAIRSPRAY), Malcolm McDowell (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE), and Ariel Winter (TV’s MODERN FAMILY).

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Excision is technically polished juvenilia that provokes without resonance. – Robert Koehler, Variety, Jan 24, 2012

Fresh: An overripe melange of Cronenbergian 'body horror' and alienated Lynchian weirdness. – Nigel Floyd, Time Out, Oct 30, 2012

Fresh: Like the lovechild of Carrie and Napoleon Dynamite, Pauline is the oddball hero of a truly impressive, eccentric teen horror. – Kim Newman, Empire Magazine, Oct 29, 2012

Fresh: Excision is no horror movie, but rather, a blood-strewn black comedy. It's an uneasy tone to strike, but Bates finds the right balance with his sharp script and just enough underlying tension. – Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, Oct 20, 2014

It's about time

Visually compelling! Interesting characters as well as story. Cameo by John Waters. What's not to love.

The cinematography was awesome! Reminded me of The Cell. I love the idea of this mental person being completely forthright and knowing in the end it's that altruistic nature that's gonna lead to something gruesome.

Annalynne couldn't have played it more perfect, and check out Traci Lords being soccer mom. This movie is grotesque but that's the point. Surprisingly, it's done so fantastical that it all seems like a dream, not just the actual dreams.

Definitely a rewatch. Haven't been this satisfied since The Loved Ones and Martyrs.

This movie is something!!!!!! Its a crazy!! If you love crazy people and blood. This is your movie!
