Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: It's about as dramatically taut as your garden-variety board meeting. And it makes you realize that jerking a tear or two isn't necessarily a bad thing for a filmmaker to do, if it at least keeps your audience awake.
Rotten: As the film builds to a credulity-testing climax, there is less schmaltz than you might expect from the screenwriter of Chocolat -- though the filmmakers seldom hesitate to milk the Crowley kids and other Pompe-afflicted children for tears.
Rotten: Vaughan has a tendency to underline, italicize and boldface the emotion when no such emphasis is needed.
Rotten: It sometimes feels like one of those "disease of the week" TV movies from the 1970s.
Outstanding Inspirational Film
I am constantly amazed at the people who review movies. If you don't like inspirational films, why do you rent them and then bash them with your reviews. For those writing poor reviews of Harrison Ford in this movie, you obviously have not see many of his films. To have listed Star Wars as one of his better acted films, means you don't know what your talking about. The whole joke about Harrison Ford was that he didn't know how to act when he did the Star Wars series, that's why it's wonderful to see how good he is today. Extraordinary Measures fit him perfectly and was some of the best acting ever, on his part. Don't bother writing reviews on films that don't fit your style, all you do is provide a poor review that makes you look like an idiot.
If you truly want to write reviews, then stop being bias and actually write from the perspective of someone who actually watches movies not only for the entertainment but for the benefit of inspiring yourself. By the way, the movie was based off a true story, so of course it was predictable.
We need more movies like this and this one is worth owning!!!
A lot of people write reviews and they don't know what they are talking about or have not been faced with the same kind of hell. These kind of movies help others cope. People shouldn't even be able to comment on these kind of movies. Shame on some people.
Good movie. Very heart warming. May cause tears in a few spots. My hole family liked it, and this is rare
