Matthew McConaughey is Tripp, a 35 year-old who still lives with his parents. And who can blame him? It's free, he's got a great room, and mom (Kathy Bates) does the laundry. Desperate to get him out of the house, his parents hire a gorgeous woman, Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker), to give him a little...push. They just didn't expect Tripp would push back! Zooey Deschanel, Terry Bradshaw and Alias' Bradley Cooper co-star in this romantic battle of wills that proves there's no place like home.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: As listless and phony as Failure to Launch may be, it does have one secret weapon in Zooey Deschanel.
Rotten: The plot synopsis sounds less like sitcom than sick-com: A womanizer has the tables turned on him when he falls in love with, essentially, a prostitute whose services are being paid for by parents who don't have the decency to ask him to leave.
Rotten: The movie's notion of humor is exemplified by Bradshaw's extended nude scene.
Rotten: Apart from its name (easily the front-runner for worst of the year), Failure to Launch represents a failure in every way: of ideas, of inspiration, of casting.
mixed..... but overall good!
i expected the film to be at least hilarious. it was funny but it needed more of that comedy edge! the chemistry between matthew & sarah jessica is so-so-. but overall, with mistakes, it deserves a four stars! could of been five! VOTE "AGREE" IF U LOVED THIS FILM OR THESE ACTORS!
Cute romantic comedy
This movie was enjoyable. While not memorable, Failure to Launch was definitely not a failure. The film did pack a good amount of laughs and while the chemistry between Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker is not too sizzling, it is still fun to watch them connect on screen. Zooey Deschanel and Justin Bartha are very funny as the sidekicks to Parker and McConaughey, respectively. I recommend trying this movie.
I had some mixed feelings about this. Mathew Mconaughey has done some better movies.
