Comic superstars Robin Williams ("Insomnia," "Death to Smoochy") and Billy Crystal ("Monsters, Inc.," "Analyze This") star with Emmy-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus (TV's "Seinfeld," "A Bug's Life") in a comedy about a woman who cons two ex-boyfriends -- a successful lawyer and a suicidal playwright -- into searching for her runaway son by convincing each he is the boy's father. Oscar-winner Williams and five-time Emmy-winner Crystal are joined by Nastassja Kinski ("Cat People," "Tess"), Bruce Greenwood ("Thirteen Days," "Rules of Engagement"), and Patti D'Arbanville ("I Know What You Did Last Summer," TV's "New York Undercover"). An outrageous comedy from acclaimed director Ivan Reitman ("Dave," "Ghostbusters"). Produced by Joel Silver (the "Lethal Weapon" movies, "The Matrix" trilogy). Look for a surprise cameo by Mel Gibson ("Signs," "Maverick"). "...wildly funny yet sensitive and touching picture..." -- Hollywood Reporter.
Two great comedy legends finally together!
Ok I will admit this movie has many flaws, but come on, this is Robin Williams and Billy Crystal! Two great legends in comedy finally together. They are playing the characters that we always love to see them as: Robin Williams is his quirky, fun-loving, good-hearted self; and Billy Crystal is in his smart-a**, down-to-earth comedic style. Plus we get a hilarious cameo from Mel Gibson. This is the type of film I like to call "a guilty pleasure." Granted this isn't a great comedy classic like City Slickers or Mrs. Doubtfire, but this is definately at least worth the rent.
This movie has some great slap-stick scenes, plus the manic hilarity we all love from Robin Williams. Billy Crystal is great as the straight-arrow lawyer trying to reign in Williams, all the while getting caught up in some wild antics. Good supporting cast in Natasha Kinski and Julia Louis-Dryfus, and a very surprising not-to-miss view of Mel Gibson! Definitely worth purchasing this to add to your collection!
