No matter where you run, no matter where you hide...you can't cheat death. Or can you? In "Final Destination 5," Death is just as omnipresent as ever, first revealing its menacing reality to a group of coworkers headed for a corporate retreat. During the bus ride, Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) has a premonition in which he and most of his friends, as well as numerous others, die in a horrific bridge collapse. When his vision ends, events begin to mirror what he had seen, and he frantically ushers as many of his colleagues-including his friend, Peter (Miles Fisher), and girlfriend, Molly (Emma Bell)-away from the disaster before Death can claim them. But these unsuspecting souls were never supposed to survive and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Under the direction of James Cameron protege Steven Quayle, the visual effects from Ariel Velasco Shaw (who has crafted mayhem on everything from 300 to Freddy vs. Jason) ensure that no industrial hook through a skull is left unimagined.
Rotten: So tapped into its audience's giddy schadenfreude that beyond a kinkier-than-usual jolt of black humor and some clever red herrings, the formula remains rote...
Fresh: A surprising infusion of energy and macabre humor reanimates this horror franchise.
Fresh: A suspenseful and macabre exercise in dread for the absurdly cosseted.
A FRANCHISE NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!
Pretty much all of us are familiar with the "Final Destination" movies by now. Since 2000, every film in the franchise has shared the same exact concept: a random young, good-looking adult has a premonition out of nowhere about a devastating event that's about to occur and tries to convince as much people as he can to escape before they're horrifically killed (even though they're just gonna brutally die anyway). But that's exactly why we love to see these movies in the first place, because we have a weird, sick obsession with watching random people die in the most over-the-top, borderline hilarious ways imaginable! And "Final Destination 5" doesn't disappoint. There's even a little twist thrown into the already predictable storyline: if you kill someone, accidentally or intentionally, your life is automatically spared. It's a plot device that's so outrageously stupid, it works. Like I said in the title, this is definitely not a film saga that should be taken seriously. Sure, this and every other "Final Destination" movie is filled with bad acting and even worse dialogue, but, in a way, that's kinda what makes them incredibly funny and all the more enjoyable. So if you love terrible horror films with extremely well-executed death scenes, this particular flick is definitely a must-rent, especially because it has a shocking surprise ending that's both laughable and disturbing. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for the rest of you, it'll be one helluva good time!
Best of all 5!!!!!
Honestly, the other four movies kept us from tanning, going on elevators, visiting the dentist, going to the gym, and working in hardware stores, but this movie has the best deaths so far!!! NO ONE will ever get LASIK surgery again and parents will forbid their children to join gymnastics! Heck, no one wants to go get a massage now either! This movie DEFINITELY avenged the fourth one and gave the series a whole new feel. I hope they make another one like this, not like the fourth one. This was my favorite movie this year and I recommend it to anyone who loves to see blood and guts!
Nothing Final About This Franchise
"Final Destination 5" proves that sequels can redeem their predecessors and sometimes even be better than the original. This movie has a dark, ominous feel to it that provides countless cringe worthy moments with disgustingly perverse ways to die and top notch 3D. In conclusion, if there is a movie this year that actually made an effort to provide great horror thrills with entertainment and succeeded, "Final Destination 5" is that movie. A must see, so buy now.
