About the Movie

Fifty-year-old Kim has made a decision. A decision a lifetime in the making: transitioning to a man. Join him through the fearful, powerful, freeing journey of which he’s only dreamed. Witness the entire process including top surgery, navigating friendships and the torment of what to tell one’s family. Watch Kim’s joy as he experiences life the way he always felt he should: as a happy, confident, human being. Captured by documentary filmmakers Aaron Bear and Gabriel Bienczycki, “Finding Kim” is a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Set in the backdrop of progressive Seattle, this film features insights, advice and real-life experience from Dan Savage, Carmen Carrera, Calpernia Addams, Buck Angel and more.

Customer Reviews

Educational, Thoughtful & Moving

One of the best Transgender related films I've seen in recent history. Beautifully shot. I learned a lot from this one.

I saw FINDING KIM at a film festival last year and again recently on Amazon. I love this film and I have recommended it to so many of my friends and collegues. It is unapologetic about it's subject, very humane in its depiction and totally educational for the uninformed. It takes creative risks that pay off and illuminates voices that aren't always heard. Additionally, the "operation sequence" is one of the more powerful sequences I've ever seen in a film. Finding Kim is a film about finding oneself which is relatable no matter who you are and what you believe. See it!
