Michael Radford (Il Postino and The Merchant of Venice) directs screenwriter Edward Anderson's script about an aging janitor and an American executive who form an unlikely alliance in order to carry out an elaborate jewel heist. Set in 1960s-era London and based on actual events, the tense crime thriller stars Michael Caine as the scheming maintenance man who longs to relieve his employers at the London Diamond Corporation of their valuable inventory, and Demi Moore as the savvy executive who is completely perplexed by the wealthy diamond magnates.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Flawless is a gimcrack, a genre exercise, yet it's a confidence game in the best sense of the phrase. [Director] Radford knows the rules - when to bend them, when to break them, and when to play by them. That's an increasingly rare skill.
Fresh: There is a nice sense of style, and appreciation for tense face-to-face confrontations among characters trying to ignore the temptations around them. It's sort of the opposite of the current robbery flick The Bank Job - all substance and no flash.
Rotten: The plot contortions that very slowly unfold under Michael Radford's arthritic direction in Flawless are not much...entertaining.
Rotten: Screenwriter Edward Anderson drops the South African angle in favor of more conventional developments and has a hard time bringing this across the finish line without a number of implausibilities.
Smart, very smart, movie.
This movie clearly did not get enough attention at the box office. A very smart movie, with awesome art direction. Demi Moore gives a very taut, controlled, and talented performance as a high level executive female in 1960 London. Not only does she have a brain, she's got beauty in this movie. All performances here are stellar. Script is top notch. Music is perfect. But it's the great feeling this movie gives of a clean, modern 1960 corporate London that I love. Talk about retro. This is done right. Great job by everyone involved with this one. If you want a great, smart, mystery, heist movie, this is for you. A+++
Very well crafted - four and one-half stars
Moore and Caine were excellent, and the script was very good. I only rented it but will now buy it.
Great story line - good thriller
I'd not heard of this movie before and it looked compelling so I rented it. I'm so glad I did! It was great fun to watch and the period is interesting to me as well as the industry. I enjoyed the drama, the thrilling aspects of the story.....so much that I watched it TWICE in one day. I'm going to have to purchase this one for my DVD collection. Enjoy
