Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: "Free the Nipple" is first and foremost the cinematic equivalent of a billboard. – Ben Kenigsberg, New York Times, Dec 11, 2014

Rotten: Yes, breasts are a beautiful, natural, baby-nourishing thing, and they've been bizarrely shamed and oversexualized in American culture-but writer-director Lina Esco's amateurish debut is not the film to set them free. – Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 13, 2015

Rotten: The movie is so tone deaf, and travels so far from its original feminist ideals, that it's painful to watch. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Dec 10, 2014

Rotten: Its meandering storyline, poorly drawn characters and lifeless scenes are, at their best, merely predictable and bland. When things go wrong - and man, do they go wrong - it's just embarrassing. – Jordan Hoffman, Guardian, Dec 11, 2014

Free The Nipple, Free Your Mind

The debut film from actress/activist Lina Esco is a contemporary observation and reflection of the many anachronisms that still exist in our Modern Day society. Where Equality is mitigated, yet Violence borders on Front Line Entertainment (unless it already IS the entertainment of a video game), the film looks to humanize and empathize the movement of Free The Nipple. The narrative begins innocuously enough, and by journey's end, states it's moral and very human declaration. And from this point, what side of the wall will you stand?

Sensationalism sells. Yet it's the heartfelt message that shines through, that resonates and carries forward to linger and grow over time.

The cast, and all involved, gave the film a bunch of fresh and authentic performances. A first rate film, and all those involved should feel a strong sense of pride and accomplishment for their spirited Independent film.

Loved it. Well written and completely empowering !!!

Absolutely brilliant

Free the nipple captures the true essence of equality. It makes women accept their bodies and it lets them be free. This movie will make everyone a true feminist no matter your gender. If you have not purchased or rented this movie, I highly recommend you do. I cannot define a feminist in a way that will make you understand it. But by watching this movie you may be able to.
