Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It wasn't a bad idea to conceive of the film as an epic, complex love story between Frida and Rivera, but the passion between them is more rhetorical than palpable...Taymor and Hayak give us only the rough sketch of a wild soul. – David Ansen, Newsweek, Mar 12, 2018

Fresh: Ms. Taymor gets magnificent performances from Ms. Hayek as Frida and Alfred Molina as the oversexed Diego Rivera. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The greatest movie about an artist since Vincente Minnelli grafted the psychological turmoil of Vincent Van Gogh onto the screen in Lust for Life. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Endlessly interesting. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jul 16, 2008

It's a very good movie.

You won't like it if you don't like foreign movies but if you do it's amazing! I loved it and I watch it all the time! Recommended X10000!

Beautifully done.

I watched this movie after studying Frida Kahlo in depth and I was blown away by the incredible craftsmanship of the film, stunning acting, and the beauty of the production. I would recommend this to anyone as a fascinating and gorgeous work of art. It captures the life of Frida incredibly well, while retaining a very fresh take on her story. Check it out, yo.
