About the Movie
"Full Metal Jacket" joins "The Deer Hunter," "Apocalypse Now" and "Platoon" on the frontline of powerful films about the Vietnam War. Cinematic genius Stanley Kubrick ("A Clockwork Orange," "The Shining"), awarded Best Director by the London Film Critics Circle, traces a young Marine's (Matthew Modine, "Pacific Heights," "And the Band Played On") odyssey from dehumanizing boot camp to the bloody terror of the Tet Offensive. Co-starring Vincent D'Onofrio ("The Player"), Arliss Howard ("Tequila Sunrise"), Adam Baldwin ("Serenity"), Dorian Harewood ("Pacific Heights") and adding true grit to the Marines' basic training, a powerhouse performance by real-life former drill instructor R. Lee Ermey (the "Toy Story" movies). Adapted from Gustav Hasford's story "The Short Timers" by Hasford, Michael Herr and Kubrick.

Fresh: No one who sees Full Metal Jacket will easily put the film's last glimpse of D'Onofrio, or a great many other things about Kubrick's latest and most sobering vision, out of mind.
Fresh: Kubrick's harrowing, beautiful and characteristically eccentric new film about Vietnam, is going to puzzle, anger and (I hope) fascinate audiences as much as any film he has made to date.
Fresh: Full Metal Jacket is not a realistic film -- it is horror-comic superrealism, from a God's-eye view -- but it should fully engage the ordinary movie grunt.

GOD YES!!
My all-time favorite war movie. D'Onofrio's performance is haunting, Ermey's dialogue is as hilarious as it is vulgar, and the showdown in Hue is nothing short of brilliant. I'm glad to see Kubrick's greatest works being added to iTunes. And with the buying option given to us right off the bat, a lot of fan's will be greatly pleased. 5/5
Christmas wish list
Now I can scratch off Full Metal Jacket, and The Exorcist,all that's left is Outlaw Josey Wales,Forest Gump and then I can start paying off my credit card again.
