About the Movie

When Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) is terminated as Globodyne Corporation's VP of Communications, he assures his wife, Jane (Tea Leoni), he'll find another job in no time. Months later, their lawn is repossessed, Jane has sold her body to science, and Dick's career as a day laborer ends with his deportation to Mexico. Madder than ever and not going to take it anymore, Dick and Jane turn to the fastest-growing sector in the white-collar job market - armed robbery - as they become upscale suburban Robin Hoods, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor - namely themselves.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Fun With Dick & Jane offers the faintly depressing sight of Jim Carrey, like Dick Harper, doing whatever it takes to earn his supper. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 7, 2011

Rotten: This Dick & Jane is precisely the kind of social-problem comedy you'd expect from well-intentioned millionaires unaccustomed to putting their money where their mouths are. – Mark Holcomb, Village Voice, Feb 11, 2006

Rotten: The desperation isn't made real, and yet their robberies are all too real. It's in this weird zone, not weird enough for drama, not wild enough for comedy, and only Carrey's moment-by-moment zaniness squeaks out any laughs at all. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Speaking of corporate malfeasance, Fun with Dick & Jane cost a disgraceful $100 million -- approximately 33 times the price tag of the 1976 original. – Lou Lumenick, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010

An Enjoyable Movie

This is a tale about two people who get caught in a business scandal involving Dick's boss, played by Alec Baldwin. Unfortunately, they end up losing almost all their money and belongings. These two desperately want their lives back to the way they were and they will do almost anything to get it back. I thought it was really fun to watch. Jim Carrey is at his best in this movie, and Tea Leoni shows her funny side. They worked really well together. I also enjoyed Alec Baldwin as Dick's boss. Alec Baldwin could be someone like that in real life without anyone asking questions! I think that it will be enjoyable for almost anyone who is looking for a good laugh.

My Thoughts

i love this movie, it is great, funny and very sad at the same time, funny because of the two actors, and sad because its about two working people trying to raise a family (the american dream) when discusting people like Jack McCallister take advantage of good people like them, and when they do those people loose everything and in rare situations they get it all back but they never had as much as they used to, the good life

A funny movie with a great ending!
