Fresh: Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai brings the minimalist director who found fame with 1984's Stranger Than Paradise back to the land of the living. – Ty Burr, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Ghost Dog is an impeccably shot and sensationally scored deadpan parody of two current popular modes -- the hit-man glorification saga and the Cosa Nostra family drama. – J. Hoberman, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Ghost Dog is... a delight for those who know his work, maybe a mystery for those who don't. – Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A handsomely shot, cool-sounding head-scratcher of a film that probably isn't worth the wear on the fingernails. – Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail, Jun 24, 2010

Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai

This movie represents another brilliant offering from Jim Jarmusch. Forest Whitaker gives a gripping performance as the hit man who incorporates the Samurai code of bushido into his profession. The movie has a great cast of supporting actors (Isaach De Bankolé, recently appearing in Casino Royale and 24: Redemption). This movie has depth and complexity, and it plumbs the depth of the human soul and it's motives, loyalties, and darker nature. If you appreciate Jarmusch as well as Forest Whitaker, then this movie is a hidden gem. It does contain scenes of violence, how could it not, considering its title, so keep that in mind. Great flick!
