About the Movie
In 2011, music legend Glen Campbell set out on an unprecedented tour across America. He thought it would last 5 weeks; instead it went for 151 spectacular sold out shows over a triumphant year and a half. What made this tour extraordinary was that Glen had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He was told to hang up his guitar and prepare for the inevitable. Instead, Glen and his wife went public with his diagnosis and announced that he and his family would set out on a "Goodbye Tour.” The film documents this extraordinary journey as he and his family attempt to navigate the wildly unpredictable nature of Glen’s progressing disease using love, laughter and music as their medicine of choice. Special appearances include Bruce Springsteen, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Steve Martin and Chad Smith among many others.

A privilege to witness
I was lucky enough to be present at one of the previews of this film that took place at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix on Nov. 5th. This movie invokes laughter, tears, and hopefully a better understanding of the study of this disease and the humanity that Glen and his lovely family bring to this telling. Thank you to the family and friends of Glen Campbell as they so openly share this devastating part of their lives so generously with us.
The Light of a Legend
What’s left to be said about the amazing Glen Campbell that hasn’t already been repeated 1000 time over? I’m certainly not talented enough to find the words - I’ll leave that to the pros.
He’s a shiny diamond in the rough packed full of brilliance, charm and talent...always has been and always will be. My mother played his music for me when I was a baby and I’ve been a fan ever since (45+ years and counting). Long ago, I had the pleasure of meeting him at a hotel in Kansas City, MO where I was working as the night bellman and he was performing. I got to carry one of his guitars up to his room and chat for the duration of an elevator ride. A true gentlemen and humble soul, and funny…will always cherish that short ride.
His mind may be fading, but his light will shine on - and WE, his fans, will remember his outstanding legacy for him.
If this film doesn’t move you and touch your heart, check your pulse.
