About the Movie
One of the greatest sagas in movie history continues! In this third film in the epic Corleone trilogy, Al Pacino reprises the role of powerful family leader Michael Corleone. Now in his 60's, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hope of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence. Francis Ford Coppola directs Pacino, Garcia, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Eli Wallach, Sofia Coppola, Joe Montegna and others in this exciting, long-awaited film that masterfully explores the themes of power, tradition, revenge and love. Seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Most film sequels are strictly optional. The Godfather Part III is inevitable, and as such it's irresistible.
Fresh: The movie, a heady thicket of political intrigue and double crosses, is slower, talkier, and more prosaic than the first two films, and its narrative seams sometimes show. And yet it's more than the sum of its mazelike convolutions.
Fresh: The film is a slow fuse with a big bang -- one that echoes through every family whose own tragedy is an aching for things past and loved ones lost.
Rotten: It may be that Coppola was right to put off filing this last installment all these years; from the evidence here, he had nothing more to say.
Not Coppola's best, But let's keep the reviews to the actual movies
This area is for reviews. This is not the complaint department. iTunes has no authority over which movies Paramount chooses to release, or in what order. I'm starting to think that parents are not curbing their children. Stop whining in the reviews, and write Apple. As for the actual film, the lynchpin of the story is Sophia Coppola. Her role as Michael's daughter becomes very important to the conclusion of the film. Unfortunately, her performance is just not up to snuff to keep the thread throughout, and give the end payoff, so the film lacks what I believe, it's most important punch at the end. If this had not been the case, I think that, while definitely the lesser of the three, would have been viewable, and a decent close to the life on Michael. The higher Michael tried to rise in legitimate business, as his father originally hoped for him, the more he found the legitimate world to be corrupt, as well as his limited morality in the world of crime put him behind the 8-ball in that world, and made him ineffectual on both counts. There's much to mine in the story itself, and the other performances. Still - I only watched it once. The First two warrant re-watching and savoring.
The Final Chapter (4.5 mics)
The third and final chapter in The Godfather trilogy is by far one of the best sequels I've ever seen, and this is from my long time experience with numerous films, here within this particular chapter Michael Corleone is filled with more psychological pain then he he has ever felt within his lifetime. Facing the fact of how he made the decision to end his brothers life, after he was aware of his betrayal to his family and his loved ones, his divorse with his ex-wife Kay as well as doing whatever poosible to award his family with a rewarding life. Knowing that his authorized power will indeed not be enough to keep his family secure and safe from those who appear to be a potenial threat. Francis Ford Coppola with the first two films proved that he was indeed one of the top five greatest filmmakers of all time along side Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese and Alfred Hitchcock. The film does have a few weaknesses though, one is it's screenplay, I have an understanding that it's original (unlike the first two films), as well as some of the movie's acting. What saved the whole film was (of course) Coppola of which whom tended to bring the best of everyone in the film. The Godfather Part 3 is nothing short of a classic sequel, of which brings one of the most depressing stories ever told within organized crime. Beautiful film.
