About the Movie

Critics are calling Ben Affleck's directorial debut "mesmerizing" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). When two young private detectives (Casey Affleck, GOOD WILL HUNTING, and Michelle Monaghan, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III) are hired to take a closer look into the mysterious disappearance of a little girl, they soon unravel a multitude of twists and turns where nothing is what it seems. Ultimately they must risk everything their relationship, their sanity, and even their lives in the search to find her. Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman are electrifying, and Amy Ryan (CAPOTE) delivers "a vibrant, knockout performance" (Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times) in this edge-of-your-seat crime drama. GONE BABY GONE "will have you talking long after it's over" (Christy Lemire, The Associated Press).

Fresh: The unconvincing genre conventions in Gone Baby Gone are at odds with its authentic, lived-in atmosphere, but no one can say that Affleck hasn't looked into the depths, and the movie ends on a resonantly ambiguous note. – David Denby, New Yorker, Jun 24, 2010

Good to the end

So here I am trying to decide what to watch. I finally get some free time. But what to watch... I have seen all the recent action, comedies, romance. So I move on to dramas and thrillers. I don't want any slow moving plot though, I want one that moves and will keep me guessing. I need something that I cannot tell what is going to happen next. Tired of the movies that you know exactly what is going to happen. I come across Gone Baby Gone but based on the description, I think it's going to be a very sad tale about a child. I get enough of that on the news and Criminal Minds. You know how as a mother you are so sensitive to seeing dramatizations about abused or neglected children. This movie is not that, it is more about the good actors, directing, plot, sequence. I was not disappointed. I usually don't agree with critics but this time the critics were right. More than worth 99 cents. But I know how it is when you think is this movie going to be good and then you think you will waste your $3.99 or $4.99. I am glad it was on sale for the day/week because I am not sure I would have watched it. Very glad I did. I think you will too if you like suspense, questions, good acting, good plot. Don't watch the preview though... Go into it blind. It's better that way not knowing.

Great Movie!

I saw this movie about 2 years ago and remember thinking "what a movie" when the credits started. I liked it because of how real it felt. It's very raw, for a lack of better words, and the story of the main character is great. It brings you in and keeps you rooting for the good guy the whole time.
I would highly recommend watching it.

Great movie.
