About the Movie
Following the mind-bending HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT, celebrated filmmakers Josh and Ben Safdie return to the mean streets of New York City with GOOD TIME, a hypnotic crime thriller that explores with bracing immediacy the tragic sway of family and fate. After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city's underworld in an increasingly desperate—and dangerous—attempt to get his brother out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Constantine finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance. Anchored by a career-defining performance from Robert Pattinson, GOOD TIME is a psychotic symphony of propulsive intensity crafted by two of the most exciting young directors working today. Josh and Ben Safdie’s transcendent vision is an intoxicating portrait of desperation and destruction that will not be soon forgotten.

Fresh: You might hate this movie, but with a passion that almost proves its power. Anyway, when was the last time a film grabbed you by the lapels and refused to let go?
Fresh: This isn't conventional Hollywood-horror/thriller "suspense" but something more primal.
Fresh: Pattinson's performance is one of the year's finest and a revelation for anyone who has wanted to pigeonhole him as an actor.
Fresh: Pattinson is what helps us keep pace. He completely inhabits Connie with his jittery, twitchy efforts - he can't stand still, so neither can we.
One of the best movies I have seen this year !
Perfect mix of story telling, sound, and acting !
I don't preorder movies. Ever. Until Good Time. Josh, Benny, the entire cast, crew, extras... There is so much more to this film than meets the eye. Solid script, organic cinematography, actors who immerse themselves into a role. (Yes, this has Rob Pattinson in it; but you will be hard-pressed to find anything *sparkling* about him-maybe the earrings. He literally became "Connie". Congratulations on your new-found respect as an artist, Rob.)
The Safdie brothers don't tell their story, you are shown "a day in the life". Everything flows to perfection. Don't expect a typical crime/thriller. "Good Time" is a psychological drama that tears away stereotypes to explore what lies beneath.
This is a visceral movie, but at the same time, an analytical experience.
Academy-Award worthy performances, music, direction, writing, editing and Best Film 2017.
