About the Movie
HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss [Andrew Garfield] who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Fresh: Hacksaw Ridge is being touted as Gibson's comeback. Is it also an atonement? What's clear is that Gibson has made a film about family, faith, love and forgiveness all put to the test in an arena of violent conflict - a movie you don't want to miss.
Fresh: [Doss'] is a story you probably didn't know, and will be glad you did. Gibson does well by it.
Fresh: Gibson has made a movie that's nearly pathological in its love of violence-but he nonetheless counterbalances its amoral pleasures with an understanding of the psychological devastation that war wreaks.
Fresh: Mel Gibson is a filmmaker with strong beliefs, one of which is the redeeming power of spectacular, voyeuristic pain and violence.
After watching this movie I couldn't even talk for several minutes. The film was masterfully done, Mel Gibson delivers every time! Best movie of 2016!
This movie is hands down the best movie I have seen in the past 5+ years. The overwhelming amount of motivational and inspirational material in this film is truly amazing. If you are looking for an action packed thrill ride with a great moral compass, definitely watch this film. I highly recommend purchasing this movie for your collection.
This is a movie based on the story of Desmond Doss's service in the military . Deticated to his convictions of right and wrong . I met this man many years ago . He was humble and NEVER gave the impression he was capable of even ONE act of heroism much less than what he pushed himself to do in the war . Yet he didnt do it for country and glory . He did it cause in his heart of hearts it was the RIGHT thing to do . Those are loosly his words from back when I was in my early teens .
