Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Writer and director Mitchell Lichtenstein struggles to find the humor in a host of horrors.
Rotten: Happy Tears, is simply weird. The funny has gone missing.
Rotten: Other than the guest-starring appearance of Cy Twombly canvases, nothing distinguishes this poor relation of The Savages from all the other emotionally fraudulent Amerindies about familial dysfunction and reconciliation.
Rotten: Happy Tears settles for the usual moments, even at its quirkiest.
i saw this movie, not on itunes, but thinking of re-renting here because i super loved it. i am writing this review to help you out and itunes out and because the film deserves it. i can't say why i liked it exactly, in words-- i liked so many things about it. but they all came together at the end into one conclusive emotion of "yes" ness. just trust me... if the director and cast hasn't sold you, than just know you'll laugh. there is tenderness and a poop scene. i think it's safe to say anyone will heart this cinematic experience. it's like a coming of age for any age over 30. maybe that is it. it's the tale they forgot to tell, a story of what happens after you chose a life so you thought (moore or barkin) or a tale for those and about those who aimlessly wander and land on their feet (parker)... hmmm. maybe that's what i want it to be. either way, i found it comforting and wicked funny. it's about family. i didn't mention that. ..i wish it was available to buy. mitchell, i wonder if this is about the women he knows. ..rent it. ps a soundtrack would suite me fine pls and thank you.
