Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood stars as Gunnery Sergeant Tom Highway, a Marine who has always found peace more difficult than war. Nearing the end of his highly decorated career, Highway faces the wreckage of his own personal life when he returns to the base where he began his service to pass his experience to new Marines--experience that proves life-saving when his ragtag platoon is pressed into war.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: As the gritty, raspy-voiced sergeant, Mr. Eastwood's performance is one of the richest he's ever given.
Fresh: Heartbreak Ridge offers another vintage Clint Eastwood performance.
Rotten: To tell the truth, the Grenada Incursion looks even sillier on film than it did in the headlines. War is not hell, it's big box office.
Fresh: We have seen this story in a hundred other movies ... But Eastwood, as the producer, director and star, caresses the material as if he didn't know B movies have gone out of style.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time
This is pure Clint, tough insightful and very entertaining, i love this movies and must have watched it several hundred times. I was very pleased to see that it is now on iTunes as my old tape version has about had it.
One of Eastwood's best
It's five stars for those of you that don't habla!
Don't rent, BUY!!
This is, without a doubt, one of the single greatest movies of all time. That may sound hard to believe, but it's true. It's hysterical, moving, insightful, and amazing. It tells the story of a Marine Lifer Gunnery Sergeant whose lazy, undisiplined Force Recon platoon are hostile to at first and over time comes to near hero worship. Beyond the military aspect of the movie it plays heavy on relationships and the effect it can have on a marriage; the former wife (Mason) is believable and is far more complex than the average movie military wife. In my opinion this movie is Clint's single greatest masterpiece, better even the amazing Unforgiven. Don't waste three bucks on renting because you'll just wind up buying it after you watch it. You do not need to be a Marine or former military to enjoy this movie - it is one movie that simply must be in your collection. Semper Fi!
