Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This neo-Western works splendidly as a self-contained tale of loyalty, loss and redemption, with polished turns from a smoldering Chris Pine and spunky Ben Foster.
Fresh: It's a dirty, sweaty, violent, tragic tale, but vigorously realised.
Fresh: Just as it taps into a dying corner of American society, Hell or High Water resurrects the power of western mayhem done right.
Fresh: The sad, dusty towns against which this classically-oriented story play out are breathtakingly evocative, as are the bodies and faces of all the Texans we meet along the way.
This film is masterpiece. Great plot the feels just right from beginning to end, and leaves you thinking about it afterwards. Gorgeous shots, juxtoposing the wide-open terrain of the south/mid-west with the quiet desolation left by poverty. Makes just enough poignent social commentary to be relevant without banging you over the head with it. From top to bottom, one of the best movies in recent memory.
Hell or High Water
It is like No Country for Old Men but better. Keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end.
Best movie of the year
This movie should get movie of the year, but it won't. That's a shame that it's not getting the national recognition that it deserves. The writing, directing, acting, cinematography, score, all great and worthy of best in every award show. This is a movie I'll watch for years to come, thanks to all involved for producing a great film.
