Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This neo-Western works splendidly as a self-contained tale of loyalty, loss and redemption, with polished turns from a smoldering Chris Pine and spunky Ben Foster.
Fresh: Just as it taps into a dying corner of American society, Hell or High Water resurrects the power of western mayhem done right.
Fresh: The sad, dusty towns against which this classically-oriented story play out are breathtakingly evocative, as are the bodies and faces of all the Texans we meet along the way.
Fresh: This is a damn good film and your feelings about the characters will oscillate throughout.
No wonder this film did so well -- it's genius. Must see. Four stars.
Hell or High Water
It is like No Country for Old Men but better. Keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end.
Much better than i figured
I enjoyed this movie much more than I expected I would. two brothers robbing banks to help their family (doing it for the "right reasons"?) while Jeff Bridges as a gruff sheriff funny without intending to be. Kinda made me think of a boys' Thelma & Louise. Great acting and cinematography. Really captures the feel of wide-open Texas. A good watch.
