Academy Award® winner for Best Original Screenplay! From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) comes an original love story that explores the evolving nature and risks of intimacy in the modern world. Set in the Los Angeles of the slight future, Her follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet “Samantha” (Scarlett Johansson), a bright, female voice who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual and unconventional love for each other.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A beautiful, bewitching and deceptively warm experience.
Fresh: In a calculatedly ambiguous way, Jonze appears to be both simultaneously mocking and embracing a genre (a tactic he used previously in Adaptation).
Fresh: It is a sweet-natured and melancholy film, beautifully directed, that manages to be satirical about love in a digital, distracted age without losing its heartfelt quality.
Fresh: The combination of Jonze's dialogue, the intensity of the performances and the way the film's style wraps you up in Theodore and Samantha's inner-ear relationship makes this feel like a uniquely apt diagnosis of contemporary ills.
Amazing and full of heart
For anyone that has been through a meaningful relationship, especially a long distance one.
The year's best love story... Open your mind and your heart.
Spike Jones Is The Man
He's only directed four movies in the past 15 years and this needs to change. 'Her' was just fantastic in every aspect.
