About the Movie
Based on the best-selling coffee table book of the same name, Hollywood Rocks! is a 90-minute documentary film containing music videos, live concert footage, rare photos and up-to-date interviews with some of the most notable metal/hard rock recording artists to make their mark during the 1980s/early 1990s Hollywood hard rock/metal music scene. In Hollywood Rocks! the artists give their take on their most memorable moments (both the good and the bad) in this once-in-a lifetime musical era characterized by “big hair”, loud clothing styles, excessive partying, and an underground method of street promotion simply know as “flyering.” And of course, what hard rock documentary would be complete without the inclusion of the many female fans who flocked to this southern California city to cheer on their heroes of this genre? Interview segments with these current (and former stars) are broken up with exclusive, rare cutaway shots of the artist from this era, music video clips by the artist and an occasional live concert clip from the period from which this film is based. A stellar music background of nothing but the "hits" and musical rarities of the era cement this film as a one-of-a-kind "must have" piece for collectors and fans worldwide! Many of the stars interviewed in Hollywood Rocks! are still active in recording and touring, such as Stephen Pearcy (Ratt), Steven Adler (formerly of Guns n Roses), CC DeVille (Poison), Jani Lane (formerly of Warrant), Jack Russell (Great White), Tracii Guns (LA Guns), Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot) and Fred Coury (Cinderella) among many others who have graciously contributed their time, effort and commitment to the making of this highly anticipated documentary film. Aside from allowing themselves to be interviewed (and sharing some very candid and heartfelt stories), many of the stars and former stars have shared some rare never-before-seen photos and flyers from their very own personal collections!
A Killer Doc. I haven't seen many films that cover the '80s Hair Rock Scene!
...killer footage of the late great RANDY RHOADS and KEVIN DuBROW! Worth it just for those two icons alone. Also hysterical interviews with Jani Lane, Tracii Guns and Lizzie Grey. Even a groupie featured here..If you liked the Decline Of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years film by Penelope Spheeris then you will probably love this documentary movie. I know I did!
