Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A charming concoction with positive messages for younger children about conquering fears, understanding outsiders and knowing yourself. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Mar 26, 2015

Fresh: The combination of Home's layered message, fun score, and clever comedy make it a colorful choice for moviegoers of any age. – Dana Rose Falcone, Entertainment Weekly, Mar 27, 2015

Rotten: Key characters are admirably diverse, but the fast-paced tale is thoroughly predictable. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Mar 26, 2015

Rotten: Tension is one of "Home's" biggest issues. There just isn't nearly enough of it. Story is another. Even a kids' movie needs more complexity and more invention. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, Mar 26, 2015

More Than Meets the Eye

Truly 'Home' is the perfect example of a family fun movie. Tip (voiced by Rihanna) is trying to find her mother after the Boov alien race collected all of the humans on Earth and relocated them to Australia. To kick start her journey she meets Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons), a unique/outcast Boov among his people, who is on the run for alerting the Boov's predators of their whereabouts. Promising to help Tip find her mother Oh is introduced to new customs he has never known before like 'family' and 'music', and along the way finds a friend in his human companion.
Oh and Tip show a friendship that's similar to famous pairs like Hiccup and Toothless, Lilo and Stitch, and Dipper and Mabel. Their connection is so true, warm, and beautiful that it brings up nostalgia, just remembering all the friends and family around me. Their hilarious and heartwarming adventure across the world is emotional as well as stunning, with added humor to boot.
To add feeling to the movie Rihanna's "Towards the Sun" and Jennifer Lopez's "Feel the Light" are played within the movie, in scenes that show serious depth and influential decisions.
Me, being 17 years old, grabbed my friends to go see this; I'll admit, in the beginning I was skeptical (the trailers for DreamWorks movies always make them look bad), but upon seeing the first showing of 'Home' at 7:00pm on Thursday I was blown away. To everyone, I recommend this movie wholeheartedly. Please, give it a chance. Don't let the critics ultimately decide what makes an excellent movie. We all have different taste and favorites, let 'Home' be a part of yours.

HOME is where the heart is!

I loved this movie. It isn’t the best Dreamworks movie out there, but it is pretty dang good. The story is good, it is really funny, the voice acting is pretty good, the music fits the film, and it can even get really touching at times. Don’t listen to the critics, buy it now!

Surprisingly Great!

Being 100% honest. I am in total shock that Dreamworks pulled this off. It was totally new. I have never seen a movie like it. I saw it in theaters and had no intention of liking it but I have to say: Wow. Dreamworks has done it again.
