About the Movie
EMILY (Anna Ishida), a troubled spirit, haunts her own house every day, wondering why she can't leave. With the help of SYLVIA (Jeannie Barroga), a clairvoyant hired to rid the house of spirits, Emily is forced into a 'patient/therapist' relationship, uncovering disturbing mysteries about her past that may help her move on to 'the next place'. Winner of 4 Best Film awards and placed in over a dozen Top Ten lists, I AM A GHOST is the second narrative feature from H. P. Mendoza (writer of COLMA: THE MUSICAL and director of FRUIT FLY).
This is a moody artistic film that lingered with me for days. I've always enjoyed ghost and paranormal films and this movie told a refreshingly new story that I haven't experienced. Most important, it's truly chilling!!
This is a low-budget indy ghost story that rejects the modern conventions and tropes of the popular horror films that are released annually. Instead the viewer is treated to a minimalist construction that draws the viewer in slowly before becoming truly terrifying. The “horror” is earned as opposed to just being purely for an exhibitionist sake.
Anna Ishida carries the film and delivers a performance that is nothing short of mesmerizing.
The film is visually stunning with images and effects that will haunt you.
Definitely recommended for anyone who likes horror films but is turned off by the torture porn/revenge/over-elaborate-trap styles that are rehashed every year by Lionsgate.
Loved it,the story brings a tear to your eye,not your average horror film.it lets you feel what an after life might be like
