Rotten: "Everest," in short, suffers from the same problem as Everest: overcrowding. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Sep 21, 2015

Fresh: A white-knuckle survival film with an outstanding cast. – Rafer Guzman, Newsday, Sep 18, 2015

Fresh: Everest takes an inordinate amount of time to get the pieces in place. However, once the group departs base camp and begins the ascent, the film sloughs off its slow pace and transforms into a gripping tale of survival, life, and death. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Sep 18, 2015

Fresh: For all the natural spectacle, the characters are what hold one's attention. – Ben Sachs, Chicago Reader, Sep 24, 2015

Okay film. The 3D was good.

Very sad, inspiring movie...but read the book first

As you may know, this movie is based off the book "Into Thin Air". However, the movie is mostly about Rob Hall and Beck Wethers (might have spelled that wrong), and not John Krakour like the book. My one complaint is that the book is around 500 pages, and the movie barely covers it. The book is so much more detailed and in-depth someone watching this movie won't truly understand everything that went wrong during this expedition. So I highly recommend reading the book before watching the movie as it will help you understand the movie more. As for the movie, it is very good. The acting is great, the effects and 3D are outstanding and truly immersive. The music is wonderful, and the cinematography is beautiful. Overall great movie, but READ THE BOOK FIRST!

Intense, suspenseful, well acted, great drama without becoming sentimental or cheesy. Don't listen to the people who didn't like the movie because it doesn't explain why the disaster happened or why these people wanted to climb everest. If you pay attention you'll see why
