About the Movie

Small-town girl Jerrica (Aubrey Peeples, TV's Nashville) lives an unexceptional life…until she takes on a secret identity inspired by her music. But when it seems that she may lose touch with the things that really matter, Jerrica and her band of sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey, discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. Directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up franchise) and starring Juliette Lewis (TV's Secrets and Lies) and Molly Ringwald (TV's The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Jem and the Holograms is a fun, music-filled, inspirational adventure about finding your own voice.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It seems to be merely tossing ideas into the pot that it thinks might appeal to 9-year-olds. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Oct 22, 2015

Rotten: As silly and sometimes nonsensical as it is, the movie is surprisingly sweet and well-intentioned. – Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly, Oct 24, 2015

Rotten: Not being part of the generation that watched the show, I can't vouch for its merits. But it's safe to say that it must be miles ahead of this wan, bloated screen version which forgoes the original's sci-fi and thriller aspects. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Oct 23, 2015

Rotten: The movie's poky and confused, never clearly setting up its conflicts and blowing far too much of its running time on a National Treasure clue-hunt for messages Jem's father programmed into a sassy dancing robot. – Alan Scherstuhl, Village Voice, Oct 22, 2015

It's truly outrageous

Surprisingly Good!

I just watched the movie. Coming from a girl who grew up watching JEM this movie put a little spin on the plot. However, it was not a disappointment. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to watch this movie.

Better than expected!!!! And Ryan Guzman was icing on the cake!
