About the Movie
Comedy superstars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, and Kevin Hart make their animated feature-film debut that finally answers the question: what do your pets do when you’re not home? When their owners leave for the day, pets from the building gossip with their friends, satisfy their sweet tooths, and throw outrageous parties. But when a pampered terrier (C.K.) and his unruly new “roommate” from the pound (Stonestreet) get lost in the urban jungle of New York City, they must put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: What should have been an enthusiastic tummy rub doesn't merit more than a grudging pat on the head.
Fresh: The Secret Life of Pets is strong enough that parents won't fall into a catatonic state while watching it with their offspring.
Fresh: The big chase scenes and action-movie adventures are fine. But what delights here are the small details of what happens once we close the door - the standard poodle who throws a heavy-metal party, or the dachshund who gets massages.
Fresh: An amusing animated adventure full of talking animals that should please both children and their parents.
Watched for about 20 minutes & gave up. Advertised as a "cute" pet movie, but it goes into a bit darker place, with an uninspiring story. Maybe it got or ended better, but you'll have to read other reviews to get that...ALL of the scenes in the preview/trailer came from the first moments of the film--never a good indicator.
Not what I was expecting
I guess I saw the trailers too many times and had some preconcieved ideas for the film. I real disappointment. Worse film for the year for me.
I haven't been that disappointed in a long long time
I so wanted to like this movie. I pre-ordered it and counted the days until the release. And it was a complete and total let-down. The plot is average at best, the characters are hard to like or relate to despite the excellent graphics and the dynamic of the movie is just so slooooow that I was truly tempted to quit watching several times. I love pets and I really wanted to like the movie, but this was a complete bust. I am going to see "Up" again in order to restore my faith in animation.
