About the Movie

Gavin Stone (Brett Dalton, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is a former child star whose hard-partying ways get him in trouble, forcing him to do 200 hours of community service at a church in his hometown. Gavin pretends to be a Christian to land the part of Jesus in the church's annual Passion Play and discovers that the most important role of his life is far from Hollywood in this inspirational comedy about faith, forgiveness and second chances from the director of What If…. Also starring Neil Flynn (The Middle), D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge) and WWE legend Shawn Michaels.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The end result merits a paraphrase of the memorable appraisal by Miss Jean Brodie: For those who like that sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they probably will like. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jan 20, 2017

Fresh: The Resurrection of Gavin Stone should satisfy its target heartland audience. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Jan 20, 2017

Rotten: A portrayal we haven't often seen before, and marks a new direction for films targeted at that audience. It may even draw a new believer or two, but there's still a long way to go to totally nail the faith-based comedy genre. – Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service, Jan 20, 2017

Rotten: Like so many movies designed for believers first and ordinary sinners second, if at all, Gavin Stone has trouble approximating the sensibility of actual entertainment and is particularly deadly as a comedy. – Jesse Hassenger, AV Club, Jan 19, 2017

Excellent family movie - must see!!!!

Funny, life changing, movie of child movie star gone bad and as an adult mandated to community service at his home local church.
Where he lies and performs another act as a "Christian" in order to perform his community service acting the lead role of Jesus.
Full of funny family humor and best of a salvation message on Christ forgiveness.

I was very impress with actors, the message and the quality of film.

Resurrection of Gavin Stone

Listen to the Critics and then Ignore them...

It is so predictable that when a Christian movie is released critics will dismiss it. Brett Dalton is very good and shows great talent and a promising career. This is a feel good movie, that can help its viewers do some soul searching of their own. It represents the majority of Americans who are looking for a better life. Movies don't always have to be about violence or sex, there is a time and place for everything, and an audience for all, I watch all genre myself. I am proud to say I enjoyed this movie and recommend it for families to watch together.
