Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Disney's tried-and-true slapstick material (est. 1959) is here given a heinously unimaginative interpretation by five screenwriters and a director who manages to squander the gifts of an absurdly overqualified supporting cast.
Rotten: The Shaggy Dog is a well-dispositioned but forgettable mutt without any new tricks.
Rotten: It's a typical hit picture remake, which is never a good sign.
Rotten: Watching a pack of dogs sniff Tim Allen's butt -- repeatedly -- is probably someone's idea of a good time at the movies. Not mine.
Generic, cliched, stupid
Plot-Workaholic dad realizes family comes first when he is turned into...a dog! Did disney even try with this one? I mean, there's the son who wants to do the play but his dad wants him to do sports(High school musical), the rebellious teenage daughter(Lizzie McGuire, thats so Raven), and the stay-at-home mom(Pretty much any live-action disney movie). So, if you want a movie that will have you saying,"I want the last 90 minutes of my life back", this one's for you!
From CrappyFilmStudios U.S.A. comes a fantasticly witty comedy of epic proportions! Family man and CEO That Guy thought he had it all until one day he became....The Shaggy Dog! From the creators of Feces And Then Some and other movies involving Tim Allen and bad plots comes this stunning zero star masterpiece. If you had the good fortune to miss seeing it the first time you can download it to your computer and waste space that can be used for better things, like one of those fish screensavers which would at least provide some entertainment. Don't delay!
I have seen this movie and it is very good.
