About the Movie

Based on the true story of the greatest long-distance horse race ever run, "Hidalgo" is an epic action-adventure and one man's journey of personal redemption. Held yearly for centuries, The Ocean of Fire -- a 3,000 mile survival race across the Arabian desert -- was a challenge restricted to the finest Arabian horses ever bred, the purest and noblest lines, owned by the greatest royal families. In 1890, a wealthy sheik invited an American and his horse to enter the race for the first time. Frank T. Hopkins (Viggo Mortensen) was a cowboy and dispatch rider for the us cavalry who had once been billed as the greatest rider the west had ever known. The sheik (Omar Sharif) would put this claim to the test, pitting the American cowboy and his mustang, Hidalgo, against the world's greatest Arabian horses and Bedouin riders- some of whom were determined to prevent the foreigner from finishing the race. For Frank, the ocean of fire becomes not only a matter of pride and honor, but a race for his very survival as he and his horse, Hidalgo, attempt the impossible.

an awesome movie with action and heart.

I'm by no means a horse lover or fan or what not. When i first heard of the movie, I thought "oh, its a horse movie- i won't even bother seeing it". After seeing the trailer on itunes, i thought well hey, i might as well give it a try In short, its a touching movie thats no so much about a horse, but about and man and his only friend trying to find who they really are, and about proving to the world that who they are is unbeatable. Its perhaps one of the most under-rated movies i have ever seen- I'm very surprised this didn't hit bigger. Take the time to watch it- trust me, you'll enjoy it.

Very Nice Movie...

This movie may be worth 10 songs or 1 album... Under rated movie not seen by that many people, but it has punch to it. You'll probably want to watch this a few times, and you know your friends probably haven't seen it, so you may get your money's worth out of this one... Solid 3 Star flick that may actually be closer to 4 Stars...

Hidalgo is a cinamatic treasure. Behind the captivating story line and breath-taking action and exelently well choreographed fight scenes, is a brilliant tale of a man and his love for a horse...and a women. You should deffinetly get this movie. I love it! Plus, Vego Mortensen does a great job! Buy this movie!
