Rotten: Performances, plot and pacing are as mechanical as the hard-wired cast.
Rotten: A failure of imagination.
Fresh: For all its flaws, I, Robot is arresting to look at.

"...old school...high technology..."
I, Robot I remember when my seventh grade teacher made me read the book a year ago--it wasn't very good But I figured out why--because I'd seen the movie in fifth grade, and it'd made such an impact on me that everything I ever saw and read ever again had to match it's complex story and stunning style to leave a memory in me. Why is I, Robot so great? Will Smith--funny guy who can balance jokes and cool dude action perfectly Cool robots--the visual effects are astounding, and the villainous robots are CREEPY Director Alex Proyas--he choreographs the action sequences almost flawlessly, making them INTENSE, and very sweet! He's also executed a great old school murder mystery with high technology visions of the future and more-than-modern apocalyptic metal-men. FLAWS: The film is set in 2035, and we've already got advanced robots who can think and dream??? We can't even get hands-free vacuum cleaners to work yet! ****Also, the film's style and cool wears away after you watch this too many times, making it the perfect iTunes rental option. Watch it once, be astounded, and remember I, Robot*****
I, ROBOT is one of those films where if you stop to think then the plot makes little sense. However it is, to a degree, a thoughtful film. That may sound confusing, but I doubt that you will be paying much attention to details while you get lost in the exhilarating action sequences. Will Smith as always is perfect (if annoying this time around) in yet another sci-fi role. And I was enthralled by every shot (if only because they included robots). The robots are actually probably one of the best things about I, ROBOT, and they alone can hold one's attention for minutes at a time. All in all, I, ROBOT is a worth while flick for those who just want to crash and let the effects do the talking. And the plot, after many different twists, eventually comes to a satisfying, if somewhat confusing conclusion. CONTENT: Brief non-explicit nudity (shower), much swearing and crude language, much action violence and a few bloody corpses, much intense frightening sequences and peril. WHO: Middle teens and older [For more worthwhile action movies just click on my name]
