About the Movie
Self-destructive journalist Pierre Peders (Buscemi) is no stranger to violence and inhumanity. Having made his name as a war reporter, he has traveled the world seeing some of the most horrifying sights imaginable. So he feels that his current puff-piece assignment, an interview with pop diva, TV and movie star Katya (Miller), is beneath his dignity. The two meet in a restaurant and, instantly, it's a collision of two worlds - Pierre's serious political focus and Katya's superficial world of celebrity. But perhaps all is not as it appears. When Pierre is slightly injured in a traffic accident inadvertently caused by Katya (she's the proverbial girl who causes traffic accidents) they end up in Katya's spacious loft for a long night of talking, drinking, sparring, and coming close to a sort of embattled intimacy. Each is scarred in their own way, aching from deep, hidden pain. But honest revelations give way to punishing deceptions. Their confrontation evolves into a passionate verbal chess game spiked with wit, intrigue and sexual tension, capped with a riveting twist ending.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Stick with it for Miller's gutsy tour de force and the kick of watching Buscemi, as actor and filmmaker, turn an experiment into a mesmerizing battle of wills.
Rotten: Buscemi's film conveys the spirit of its source material but doesn't make a satisfying transmogrification out of its homage.
Rotten: Interview has its moments but they can't prevent it from feeling a little long winded and unsatisfying. The premise makes it sound more interesting than the in-theater experience delivers.
Fresh: An eminently watchable contest between two actors at the top of their games.
This movie feels much more like a play than a movie. Almost the entire thing takes place in "Katya's" loft. The tension between the characters is palpable as they try to outmaneuver each other. The reporter trying to get something of substance and the actress playing with him like a cat with a mouse. Both know this is a game which makes it so interesting, The reporter knows she's an actress so he can't really trust what she says and the actress knows he's a reporter so she constantly tries to throw him off the scent. No action or pyrotechnics, but if you appreciate dialog and a cool twist ending this is well worth a watch.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I'd never really taken Sienna Miller seriously as an actress, but after this movie, I do. She did a fantasic job. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.
Writing is solid and unique. I was surprised throughout. It's a great directorial piece of work by SB and superb acting by SM.
