About the Movie

Jennifer Aniston, Catherine Keener, Frances McDormand and Joan Cusak star in the story of four best friends whose comfortable lives are thrown off balance as the realities of early middle age set in. It paints a painfully hilarious portrait of modern life in the class-sensitive West side of Los Angeles. Written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Lovely and Amazing), Friends With Money was the Opening Night Selection at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and is being hailed as "Terrific" (Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times), "Acutely perceptive and slyly quick-witted" (Allison Benedikt, Chicago Tribune).

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Sharply observed and cleverly written, in the end, the film is also a bit superficial, like its characters' lives. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: This is a dense and sophisticated work about mortality, materialism, madness, jealousy and pity a movie in which the fabulous duds are ripped off the "Sex and the City" gals and they're left teetering on the edge of the abyss... – Andrew O'Hehir,, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: This delicious, seriocomic tale of four friends in affluent, liberal, west L.A. grappling with midlife crises, metrosexual spouses and household remodeling takes on an avoided subject: money, and how it affects our relationships. – David Ansen, Newsweek, Mar 12, 2010

Fresh: It engages us from beginning to end without strong narrative, or narratives. It lives through the quality of Holofcener's dialogue and the performances that she has drawn from her actors. – Stanley Kauffmann, The New Republic, Jun 24, 2010

Friends With Money is a pull-no-punches, honest look at the pain that comes with everyday life. Every character in the movie is relatable in some way. It's one of my favorites.

Friends With Money

This was absolutely one of the worst movies I have ever seen and I am a huge Jennifer Aniston fan! Do not waste your money!

Friends With Money

Vapid and completely unworthy of Jennifer Aniston. The horrible ending only highlights the whole film. Come on Jennifer, some discretion in choosing movies - or is it just for the money?
