Plot Summary

The persons and events in this film are fictitious - fortunately! A masterpiece of off-the-wall comedy, Airplane! features Robert Hays as an ex-fighter pilot forced to take over the controls of an airliner when the flight crew succumbs to food poisoning; Julie Hagerty as his girlfriend/stewardess/co-pilot; and a cast of all-stars including Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Leslie Nielsen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... and more. Their hilarious high jinks spoof airplane disaster flicks, religious zealots, television commercials, romantic love... the list whirls by in rapid succession. And the story races from one moment of zany fun to the next.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Airplane! is more than a pleasant surprise, in the midst of this dim movie season. As a remedy for the bloated self-importance of too many other current efforts, it's just what the doctor ordered. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jun 8, 2015

Fresh: Airplane! is a splendidly tacky, totally tasteless, completely insignificant flight, a gooney bird of a movie that looks as if it could never get off the ground and then surprises and delights with its free-spirited aerobatics. – Richard Schickel, TIME Magazine, Jun 8, 2015

Fresh: From the clever Jaws take-off opening to the final, irreverent title card, laughs come thick and fast. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: It is sophomoric, obvious, predictable, corny, and quite often very funny. And the reason it's funny is frequently because it's sophomoric, predictable, corny, etc. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

This is a real movie. Woooooo!!!

GOOD: really funny. i recommend this movie to all people 10 or over. has a lot of classic jokes. NOT SO GOOD:1/4 of the movie is filler. WATCH FOR: there is a 5 second PG-13 part where a ladie is blowing a tube in the belt line of an inflatable dummie. a 2 second R part where a naked ladie runs on the scene. HEADS UP: this movie is as old as your dad. this movie was made by the same people that made epic movie and all those simple titled ones.

Most Hilarious Movie PERIOD

Definately in the top 3 best comedies ever made, (zoolander being another of those three), A must buy for anyone with a sense of humor, a credit card/iTunes account, and a screen to watch it on (even if that screen is on your toaster or your friends toothbrush). P.S. THANK YOU iTUNES PEOPLE FOR FINALLY PUTTING IT UP FOR SALE

Best - Movie - Ever

I loved the humor of this movie, it was smart, and never the kind of dumb humor that you usually see in comedies today.
