Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Unlike Mr. Nighy, who puts an amusing camp spin on his every line and gesture, Mr. Sheen appears to have taken his monster duties seriously. – Manohla Dargis, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Sheen and Nighy do their best with the material, but this is easily the worst Underworld so far. – Clark Collis, Entertainment Weekly, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: I'd provide more detail of plot and dialogue, but the visual palette was way too dark for me to take legible notes; and frankly, though I saw it at a midnight screening hours ago, the movie just wasn't that memorable. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The third film in Screen Gems' grimly competent, vampires-versus-wolves franchise. – Glenn Whipp, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is easily my favorite movie of the Underworld series. There is way more story featured in this film than the other two combined. I really enjoyed the first Underworld movie, but the story was gone so fast by the outcome of the film. This is a great film, it really makes you think, and feel for both the Vampires and the Lycans. For me it’s the Lycans!

Awesome!

ROTL has to be the best of the Underworld films. Michael Sheen shines as Lucian and his chemistry with Rhona Mitra (Sonja) is amazing. The director and the actors did a wonderful job turning what some could say was a weak plot into a wonderful, action packed yet tragic movie. It is so totally worth the money and the five stars!!

Awesome!

Now, this film is awesome! This is what Twilight should have been! It's got actual vampires in it along with actual werewolves/lycans! It rocks! The story works well and it's great to see some old cast from the original Underworld make their appearances. Oh, man it's just as good or even better than the original. It's just awesome! I would recommend it to anyone who likes sword fights, werewolves, and/or vampire movies. You will not be disappointed. Not only that, but it will also wash that horrible taste of Twilight obsession that's been going around in pop culture (sorry ladies, but you need help).
