Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: What distinguishes this Peter Pan from other versions is its unsentimental insight into the terrors and delights of both childhood and growing up. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: Familiarity doesn't exactly breed contempt, yet despite the novelty of a real boy as Peter, the movie does engender a listless been-there / eaten-that reaction. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

The definition of irony...

I've been looking to download this movie honestly for many weeks now and was dismayed to find it not on here. Then, when I go to make a request at the Apple store to add this movie, something told me to wait and make sure iTunes didn't have it and, lo and behold! Here it is! I love Jeremy Sumpter's Peter Pan (his is the best child Peter Pan, Robin Williams was the best adult), and Jason Isaacs as Captian Hook was genius. It definately has more edge than the Disney rendition, which is great, and I believe that it is more true to J.M Barrie's story. The reason for my four stars, though, is because I found some of the graphics a little too...cartoony. Like, the scene where they are laying on the clouds looking down at the Jolly Rodger. It may have been intentional that way, but it didn't sit too well with me. Also, while inspiring, I found the "I Do Believe in Fairies" scene to go on a bit too long to make it seem a bit ridiculous. Otherwise, the movie is sensational and a worthy addition, if not the best, to the Peter Pan legend.

Peter Pan is a story for the generations. Truly a classic, this movie offers a new perspective that is interesting, yet entertaining. I am so glad iTunes has added this to it's vast lists of movies within the library.

I Love Peter Pan

Peter Pan has always captured my imagination and to see it with real people was wonderful (i never realized how bad Disney messed with it until i saw this version.) Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood are AMAZING in this movie. Adults, you all will get a kick out of this one really will bring you back to the days you dreamed about flying and never growing up.
