About the Movie

Nominated for four Academy Awards®, The Constant Gardener stars Ralph Fiennes and Academy Award® winner for Best Supporting Actress Rachel Weisz. In this gripping suspense-thriller, a diplomat on the hunt for his wife's murderer uncovers a treacherous conspiracy that will destroy millions of innocent people - unless he can reveal its sinister roots. From the best-selling spy novel by John le Carre comes this edge-of-your-seat story of murder, deception and revenge that critics are calling "a hair-raising thriller with an unforgettable finale" (Karen Durbin, Elle).

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A film that grips us dramatically, intellectually and emotionally. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Mar 13, 2009

Fresh: Meirelles clearly trusts his actors, particularly Fiennes and Weisz: The plot of The Constant Gardener is fairly intricate, but in the end, the story is told mostly in their faces. – Stephanie Zacharek,, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: The Constant Gardener is beautifully structured, an artful mix of forward motion and flashbacks. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: If it sends audiences home to log on to the Amnesty International website, terrific -- but that still doesn't make it a very good movie. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

An emotional, beautiful, and thrilling movie that you can't walk away from. You have to endure every second of it. Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Wiesz are amazing and each moment of this movie touches you deeply. Their love will make you smile but their horrific ordeals will make you cry. This is an amazingly beautiful movie that I urge everyone to watch.

It will stick in the back of your head... Could this be true, maybe this is more than a movie, could they be making us sick so they can sell us the cure?
I am affraid the answer is not the one we would hope for. Who can you really trust?

A Delight for the Eyes, but not for the ears....

Would've been a great movie, but for some unfathomable reason it refused to play at anywhere near full volume. The sound of my own chewing entirely prevented me from hearing this movie. And I have a surround sound system! This movie is very definitely of the top quality, or would have been, if I had been able to hear it.
