About the Movie
The zany Marx Brothers turn an operatic performance into chaos in their efforts to promote their protégé's romance with the leading lady. Considered by many to be the Brothers' finest big budget adventure. Co-starring Marxian regular Margaret Dumont ("Coconuts") and Allan Jones ("Show Boat"). A fun-filled musical romp. Inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry and recently selected by the prestigious American Film Institute as one of the top 400 American Films of all time.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The loudest and funniest screen comedy of the Winter season.
Fresh: The backstage finish, with Harpo doing a Tarzan on the fly ropes, contains more action than the Marxes usually go in for, but it relieves the strictly verbal comedy and provides a sock exit.
Fresh: The Brothers get to perform some of their most irresistible routines.
Fresh: It is impossible to explain why that is so funny; their sheer irreverence, exuberance and verbal comic genius are marvelous.
I never thought that old black and white movies could be SO funny. OMG this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I like A Day at the Races too. Unfortunately I haven't seen all of the other Marx brothers movies but I hope to soon. Buy this movie people. IT'S WORTH IT!!!!
Better than "Duck Soup"
In my opinion, this is the best Marx Bros. movie. Every time someone says Marx Bros. they think "Duck Soup." But "A Night at the Opera" is a real comedic gem with great sight gags, sharp wit and timing, and incredible musicianship. Unless you've had your funny bone removed, you'll like this one. All the great comedic actors since them were influenced by them.
Cant be beat
A wonderful combination of amazing opera and the hilarious madcap humor that The Marx Brothers are so well known for, A Night at the Opera is a movie that fans of opera, fans of the Marx Brothers, and anyone that simply wants 90 minutes of good laughs will appreciate. Truly a one in a million film.
