Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Bruce Willis has little to do but hit his predictable marks and mouth the generic dialogue.
Rotten: While the notion holds promise, the execution is strictly campy and adrenaline-driven.
Rotten: Give credit to filmmaker Jonathan Mostow for keeping the movie on track; give credit to star Bruce Willis for keeping a straight face.
Fresh: Surrogates nudges the robo-thriller in an interesting direction.
Buy it you guys
I watched it in theater and have to say Bruce Willes do a great job in this movie plus this movie is very good. I will buy it when it available
A good idea with a bad approach
This is a pure disappointment of a film and the trailer is made up of the best scenes, all of which occur in the last ten minutes of the movie. No joke..
The movie trailer was misleading and the movie really is not good.
It's almost not even entertaining... but it is very silly and audiences were laughing at the extras who played other surrogates because the actors playing robots looked ridiculous most of the time.
I really wanted to see this movie because Bruce Willis always makes entertaining movies...plus it looked like a movie that was going to explore some interesting depths and topics about humans and robots.
But this one really missed the target of being sci-fi or deep on the grounds of "I Am Legend" or something along those lines.
The film explores the world in an era where people are self-conscious and so they all live life through the eyes of their surrogates. They all sit back in a cushioned chair in their rooms and just have digital glasses over their eyes that let them control their surrogate.
Some people go into mass seclusion and get so caught up with their surrogates that it ruins marriages---such is the case with bruce willis' character and his wife.
But he's a cop who prefers living life normally and not through his surrogate, and he's investigating a murder that gets resolved within the first ten minutes of the movie.
The rest is not exciting...
It explores no depths, doesn't bother to explain the lifestyle of the people and surrogates further and doesn't take advantage of the story it has. Instead, it takes the route of mindless action/mystery movie. Both category's which it lacks in completely.
And the movie falls flat...
Anyway, I don't recommend this movie at all...
I expected more out of it I guess.
But this is no Brave New World..
I know it looks good but please don't see it.
Everything looked good but when i saw this film,
everything changed. I ussually like movies but this was just freakin'
terrible. Say (yes) if you agree this movie was a waste of your life.
