Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Like the first Ghost Rider movie, this one burns plenty of rubber trying to swerve around plot holes and thinly written characters. – Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly, Feb 17, 2012

Rotten: One look at the dreadful mess that is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will turn your whisper into a primal Cage scream: MAKE THIS MOVIE STOP! – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Feb 17, 2012

Rotten: Spirit of Vengeance is weighted down for long stretches in the middle, as it starts to treat its own religious hokum plotline with undue seriousness. – Andrew Barker, Variety, Feb 21, 2012

Rotten: Like a laboratory experiment on how often a movie can spin from bad to good and back again. – Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times, Jul 15, 2015

=)

A much better follow up to the first Ghost Rider =)

Gosht rider 2. This is gonna....

Nicolas Cage has had his up and had had his downs and has had further downs. This movie much like the other recent Nicolas cage movies has been a "flop" not that anyone would expect any different but something that we hope stops. No one likes to see any actor call from their career. However no one likes to see an actor that has run his/her course try to make a comeback and continuously fail. This movie was filled with action sequences that while watching them i was entertained but throughout the other 1:35:32 (movie running time). I was fairly disappointed at the lack of a sturdy plot. If your planning on seeing this movie wait till you see it in Giant’s $4.99 bin near the toddler toys and bakery.

I’m not a critic I’m a 15 year old guy so my spelling won’t be that of a celebrated journalist. You may even disagree with me but I’m fairly harsh toward Mr. Cage i only enjoy national treasure and some of his earlier work

Far superior to the first film.

I saw this in the theatres. Unlike the first GR film, I didn't leave wanting my time and money back. I have been a fan of the comic book series and know a decent bit of the backstory and it thrilled me to see as much effort as was put into this version of the film as was left out (and utterly abandoned) in the first film. It created a complete 360 for the prospects of a GR franchise of movies. Several things still disappointed me about the film, many of which had to be continued because of where the first film carried the continuiuty, but I can live with adaptation for the sake of cohesion. Things I'd have liked to see that didn't make it were having Peter Fonda reprise his role as Mephisto, which was completely absorbed into Rourke, and Blackout (Kerrigan) getting more screen time while sticking closer to the original concept of the character from the comics (rotting was not what made him worthwhile). This movie more closely explores the "curse" aspect of the Ghost Rider, and brings in needed material for the continuation of a franchise event. Zarathos has strong implications for the future of this possibility. Character exploration was provided in greater depth and to greater effect. There were numerous corny visual puns and jokes that could have been left out. A serious gritty movie would be a far better direction for this series to take the action comedy angle, but directors and writers will have the last say in desicisons like that. Sadly, they don;t always make the best choice while trying to get their vision across on film.
