About the Movie
An epic look at the battle that turned the tide of World War II. A band of determined Russian soldiers fight to hold a strategic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process become deeply connected to a Russian woman who has been living there. The scale of the battle contrasts dramatically with the human drama of the Russian soldiers, the few remaining civilians and their invaders into Stalingrad.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A film that seeks to memorialize by blunt force.
Fresh: Yes, the film is gorgeous - assuming you want to see rubble and soot and frostbite rendered as eye candy.
Fresh: Though plenty of road-tested war truths about sacrifice, honor, grit and intimacy get trotted out, "Stalingrad" is deep down a spectacle campaign forged in operatic violence and a siege of the senses, and on those terms it has its moments.
Rotten: Russian director Fedor Bondarchuk's treatment of the World War II turning point is shallow and contrived, if sometimes impressively staged. The movie wins points, however, for sheer wackiness.
A towering triumph
A towering triumph of a film, a fantastic character drama set amid the backdrop of one of the largest battles in world history. A must see for any fan of military drama.
Incredibly stupid attempt (financed by the Russian state) to capitalize on WW2 events. Directed and produced by one of the trusted Putin’s “friend” and financed by a state bank, this film created one major “critique” in Russia itself - will Katya sleep with everyone or will settle on one guy?
the movie itself is okay; however, they could have selected better voices for the voiceovers.
