About the Movie

From the creators of You’re Next comes The Guest, a pulse-pounding thriller starring Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) and Maika Monroe (Labor Day). Recently discharged from the Army, David Collins (Stevens) unexpectedly shows up on the Petersons’ doorstep, claiming to be their late son’s best friend. Welcomed into their home, the well-mannered stranger becomes part of the family until a shocking wave of violence raises daughter Anna’s (Monroe) suspicions that the mysterious ex-soldier is not quite what he seems. Smart and suspenseful, The Guest is an action-packed blast that critics are calling “impossibly cool.” (Samuel Zimmerman, Fangoria).

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Dan Stevens is mesmerizing as the avenger, helping director Adam Wingard turn The Guest into a blast of wicked mirth and malice. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Sep 19, 2014

Fresh: The Guest ravels smartly; and, after too many herky-jerky entries in the faux-found-footage subgenre, it's nice to see a scare film with a pearly visual style, which gives the enterprise the patina of both elegance and plausibility. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Oct 16, 2014

Fresh: One of the many pleasures of director Adam Wingard's tough, fun thriller "The Guest" is seeing Matthew Crawley -- er, British actor Dan Stevens -- serve up a mesmerizing star turn of psycho charm. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Jan 5, 2015

Fresh: The director Adam Wingard joins the ranks of the current masters of unease with this suspenseful horror tale. – Bruce Diones, New Yorker, Oct 6, 2014

Fantastic

From the duo that wrote and directed You're Next and A Horrible Way to Die (both great films). This movie is fantastic. Beautifully directed, edited, written, and acted. A mix of thriller, mystery, action, and '80s horror. The soundtrack and score really drive this film home. I strongly suggest you check it out

The Guest is the Best!

This movie was amazing, but it wasn't a shock, considering that the guys who made this also made "You're Next." This movie is a great thriller with a little bit of dark humor on the side.
I don't want to say too much, but picture "The Lucky One" mixed with a John Carpenter film and "Drive." The bottom line is, make sure to let this movie in!

Coolest movie of 2014

Rent it, buy it, whatever. Just see it. "BJ shots for the girls, cosmos for the guys". Hahaha! This movie owns.
