Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: "Seventh Son" moves at a fairly quick pace and has a sense of humor about itself. That doesn't mean it's thrilling, or funny. Just that it's a quickly forgotten pile of junk.
Rotten: Impressive set design and visuals, excessive CGI, and a loud score from Marco Beltrami can't fully compensate for bland character development and a predictable narrative that rushes along on a linear trajectory.
Rotten: It's a loud, joyless mess.
Rotten: "Seventh Son" delivers exactly what it promises: Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore slumming in a laughably generic sword-and-sorcery almost-epic.
I enjoyed the movie. Is it a masterpiece? No. But it does take you away from the now and holds your attention. 3 1/2 stars from me even though the alternate ending should have been used.
I saw the movie today, and it was absolutely stunning. I love the storyline, I love everything about it. Ben Barnes, Jeff Bridges, Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore made the movie. I love a good medieval tale, and it draws you in from the beginning. Then again, so does the idea of soulmates and dragons. I didn't get a chance to read the book before I watched the film, but now I want to do that as well.
Reminds me of the Witcher games
This movie isn’t a bad as some say. Sure, it’s not the best thing, but it’s enjoyable.
But it’s like the writers played the Witcher games and then wrote the script.
