Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Dense with plot and mythology, the film is refreshingly unpredictable - if only because guessing what comes next would require understanding what the hell is going on.
Rotten: Incarnate, much like its central character at key moments, barely seems to have a pulse.
Rotten: It's all a wild jumble of half-baked, derivative ideas and arbitrary rules, all of which add up to a suspense-free horror narrative as murky as its lighting.
Rotten: Strident rhetoric is required for describing Brad Peyton's latest film, a maddening hodgepodge of ideas that range from undercooked to unoriginal.
It was okay. It wasnt boring and it- for the most part- made sense. However, I felt that it definetly got cheesy at times. I have seen worse however and some of the scenes were interesting. That being said, there is something lacking with this film, and while it isnt the worst it sometimes seems to fall flat. I would take it with a grain of salt- maybe rent it? Or wait until it is out on cable (especially if you are a "movie snob").
Not scary. Definitely shouldn't have marketed it as a horror film. That being said the movie is still good. I really liked it. The acting was great, the affects were nice, the story was pretty neat and I found the whole thing a lot of fun. I can't wait to watch this again and I hope they make a sequel with almost the same cast. Many people didn't like this film but if people always liked the same thing we wouldn't need so many flavors of ice cream. People like different things. This movie kept the plot moving and sure had a few holes in it, but what movie doesn't? Since they started us in on this world and got all the introductory stuff out of the way they can really break lose if they do a sequel. Instead of having to work explanations of how into the plot they can just let the story flow, though I feel they did a fairly good job of it in this film. Very good. I wanna watch it again right now!
It's more of a made-for-TV movie. Has a thin plot and no scares.
