Plot Summary

1959 Manhattan was a party, and none of the glitterati glittered brighter than Truman Capote. Then he saw a story in The New York Times: "Wealthy Farmer, 3 of Family Slain," and the party ended for Capote. He plunged into the murder case that inspired his great "nonfiction novel" In Cold Blood and led him into a fevered relationship with one of the two doomed killers. But there's more to the story than you know.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's a stellar cast, but you can't help but lament the bad timing. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Sep 1, 2007

Fresh: Jones gets everything -- the gestures, the generosity, the mean streak, the bending of the ear to recitals of woe, whether across a lunch table or a prison cell. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Oct 17, 2006

Fresh: [With Hoffman], it was easy to see Capote as someone truly extraordinary, perhaps a genius. Toby Jones... doesn't have that quality, though he does offer something almost as good: Watching him it's easy to believe he's really Truman Capote. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Oct 14, 2006

Rotten: Why did they go ahead anyway? Did they believe that an immense Capote audience was hungering for two films about him? – Stanley Kauffmann, The New Republic, Jun 24, 2010

Toby Jones, who plays Capote should have won the Oscar for his brilliant portrayel in this movie. Daniel Craig is excellent as the murderer that Capote becomes obsessed with. Very different approach towards Capote & the murderer that he befriends. A Sleeper that didn't get enought attention. I highly suggest watching this movie & see what you think.

A Grown Ups Movie

Great Actors, good story, photography, authentic period sets and clothing. A lot of effort put into making a good movie.

Not worth the price or time.
