Fresh: The broad, black humor of the Coens' early features has ripened over the years into a sadder, more philosophical brand of comedy (A Serious Man) that puts them in a class with Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch (yeah, you heard me).
Fresh: Celebrating and mourning a bygone moment, "Inside Llewyn Davis" is a tuneful wake intended to arouse us from our slumber to desires worth remembering.
Fresh: This is one of the strangest yet most satisfying movie experiences of the year, one of those films in which you can't really appreciate what you've seen until it's over. You just have to trust that the trip is worth the trouble. And it is.
Fresh: The Coen brothers have crafted another unique period piece.
Im sorry….I just don’t get it. All these great reviews, to me it was just a horrible depressing movie that made me wonder if I’m even on the same planet as the other reviewers.
Not worth the time .
I wish I would have been warned not to watch this screenplay ( not a movie ) . I would have paid someone double the cost of this movie if they would have just warned me not to watch it.
It’s an absolute CRIME Oscar Isaac and the Coen brothers were overlooked (ignored?) by the Academy, First time I saw it, I didn’t know what to make of it. Further viewings made me love the movie more and more. It’s not “obvious” like most other movies, and Isaac’s character is not a likeable guy — that may be the main reason the Academy ignored a most wondrous creation.
