In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis construct a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers. When American astronaut James Washington (Christopher Kirby) puts down his Lunar Lander a bit too close to the secret Nazi base, the Moon Führer (Udo Kier) decides the glorious moment of retaking the Earth has arrived sooner than expected. Two Nazi officers, ruthless Klaus Adler (Götz Otto) and idealistic Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), travel to Earth to prepare the invasion. In the end when the Moon Nazi UFO armada darkens the skies, ready to strike at the unprepared Earth, every man, woman and nation alike, must re-evaluate their priorities.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: In space, no one can hear you laugh either.
Rotten: It's Nazis from space. Cult movie fans will basically know what to expect. It's just a shame it couldn't have been a bit better.
Fresh: If you like your sci-fi strange, and if you appreciate "little films that can - and do", you just might groove to this. I did.
Rotten: 'Iron Sky' just proves that even the dumbest idea needs a smart mind behind it.
What do you expect?
It's about Nazis living on the Dark Side of the Moon. Of course there will be stereotypes and some offensive slurs about other races. But since when have we cared about it in the movies? It is a movie, which is meant to entertain the audience. If you want to see a funny movie, watch this. Just let go and be able to suspend your disbelief for an hour and half and you'll get a kick out of it.
I waited a long time to watch this movie, and was very excited to see it appear on iTunes. Originally I was going to order the blu-ray but I decided to rent it first and see what I thought. If it was just a bad movie I would have bought it anyway, but the polictical messages were bad. Basically the message was that America was evil, likes to bomb to kill unarmed civilians, women and children, We don't keep our promises and will kill anyone for resources including our allies. So I hope the filmmakers choke on all the bad reviews, they deserve them all. Glad I didn't buy it and only rented it.
Wish it was a rental
The idea is insane enough to hold the promise of a lot of laughs, trailer isn't bad either ... however still don't want to buy it but would certainly rent it.
