Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Centered on a 14-year-old boy caught up in a murder mystery involving a part-Aboriginal suspect, this outstanding adaptation of Craig Silvey's novel will appeal strongly to teenage and adult audiences.
Fresh: Devotees of the novel will find this a faithful rendering.
Fresh: It's a classic tale well told.
Rotten: It's hard to say if there is a centre to a narrative that jumps from one subplot to another in the manner of a soap opera.
Lots of themes: thrilling coming of age story about secrets, loss of innocence, grief, discrimination, honor, commitments, family, young love and ultimately finding oneself. I enjoyed the movie/story. Beautifully filmed, wonderful acting and sharp opening credits (yes, that typically gives you a hint at how good the movie is).
