Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Carpenter obviously knows the genre well and he builds a properly terrifying atmosphere through his well-paced direction. It's an effective entry for its intended market.
Fresh: Halloween is an absolutely merciless thriller, a movie so violent and scary that, yes, I would compare it to Psycho.
Fresh: Halloween remains untouched -- a modern classic of the most horrific kind.
Fresh: John Carpenter's 1978 tour de force, perhaps the most widely imitated film of the 70s.
The Original! The Classic!! The best!!!
All I can say is FINALLY!!!
Great movie but old transfer
I just looked at the film and the transfer seems to be the one they used for the 2007 Blu-ray and not the recent 35th Anniversary remastered edition that was supervised by the original cinematographer. A lot of people won’t notice or care but some will, so I figured I’d mention it.
The One & Only.
Finally, the one and only classic genre masterpiece HALLOWEEN is available. John Carpenter builds real visceral tension and fear without the gimmicks of modern day jump cuts. There's not even a close second that could compare to this mandatory on your annual late October must-watch list. Skip Zombie's attempt at reviving the series...those aren't even good horror. Do your self a favor and watch this intense thriller now.
